What is LVP?

There are a number of options for wood-like flooring, but how do you know which is best for your space? Here, we offer a look at four common materials.

Laminate
Laminate is made of resin and fiberboard with a wood photograph layer under a transparent outer coating. It’s great for budget-friendly projects and is durable. It’s not moister-resistant, so it’s not recommended for wet or high-moister areas like basements.

Vinyl
Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring is made of plastic, and has become a popular option. It’s extremely durable, long lasting, easy to install, offers a variety of styles, and has mid-range price-point. It is also waterproof, making it a good option for bathrooms, kitchens, and basements.

Hardwood
As its name suggests, it is a solid wood product so nothing beats the look! Hardwood is the most expensive of the types we’ve covered, however it can be sanded and re-finished.

Engineered Hardwood
Engineered hardwood is made of layers of wood and fiberboard with a thin top layer of real wood veneer, which makes it a very durable product that costs less than real hardwood. And, unlike real wood, it’s not susceptible to buckling or warping due to moisture and temperature.
