Entryway Organization & Storage Solutions

As the kids head back to school, many families are reminded of their home organization and storage needs, especially in the entryway. Book bags, shoes, sports equipment, and papers come in and out quickly, so functional solutions are important.

If your home already has a mudroom or drop zone, simply adding a bench, hooks, and cubbies is an easy way to keep the family organized.  Give each family member their own space and include coat hooks and a place for shoes. Utilize baskets for hats and gloves to keep cubbies tidy.

To enhance the space further, built-ins can include enclosed cabinets or “lockers” and drawers to keep items out of sight. Keep in mind the more details in the design, the higher the cost. If you’re working with a tight budget, keeping it simple, yet functional, will keep costs down.

If your home doesn’t have a designated room or space, consider creative ways to convert a hall closet, utilize space under stairs, or the garage. Done well, an organization “nook” can even be incorporated into a kitchen, dining, or living room.
